PRU BOO 2014!

pruboopic

This Sunday, October 26th, NECCO will proudly be appearing at The Shops at the Prudential Center’s annual PRU BOO in Boston!

The PRU BOO is a fun family event where children can trick-or-treat in many of the Prudential Center’s stores, filling up their bags with a great mix of yummy NECCO candies! Trick-or-treat bags are available for a small donation of $4 and all proceeds from the day directly benefit the Catching Joy charity, an organization whose mission is to promote volunteerism beginning with young children and their families by organizing hands-on activities that kids can do to let them feel the joy of giving.

Find out the complete details about this great event on the Prudential Center’s website.

In addition to providing the sweets for trick-or-treating, NECCO is also excited to be participating again in an exciting craft event where we will be making these cute little Slap Stix Ghosts among other fun!

There will be many other great companies in attendance to participate in the exciting festivities of the day, so if you’re in the Boston area, dress up the kids and head to the Prudential Center for some spooky fun!

NECCO is so proud to sponsor such a wonderful family event for our Boston community and can’t wait to see everyone there on Sunday

The entire month of October is so much fun, filled with festive movies, ghost stories, fun parties, outdoor activities, and of course you can’t forget the sweet treats! We love to celebrate with fun crafts that incorporate some of our favorite classic treats. This week we’re taking our deliciously chewy Slap Stix caramel lollipops and turning them into cute little spooky ghosts! It’s a quick and easy craft, so grab the few supplies, some Slap Stix and get ready to make the perfect Halloween party treat!

Supplies Needed:

  • googly eyes
  • glue stick
  • scissors
  • non-glossy white tissue paper

Instructions:

  • Cut a large rectangle out of your white tissue paper, large enough on all sides that it will cover the lollipop completely.
  • Cover entire Slap Stix lollipop with the tissue paper, grasping it together at the base of the lollipop where it meets the stick.
  • Use your ribbon or string to tie this together tightly. It’s best to double knot!
  • Glue on two googly eyes, and then draw on a very spooky mouth for your ghost!
  • Get ready to have some spooky Halloween fun with these delicious party favors! =)

Creepy Halloween Hand with Mighty Malts!

MMhand4

At Halloween, it’s always fun to see what spooky new ideas we can create to have fun with our candy! Today we’re sharing a quick  activity to create a creepy (and crunchy) Halloween hand made with our Mighty Malts malted milk balls!

This craft is super easy and will be a fun Halloween  surprise for everyone, especially the trick or treaters! So, grab these few supplies and a carton of Mighty Malts and get ready to give someone special a ‘hand’! ;-)

Supplies Needed:

  • powder-free plastic kitchen gloves (Make sure you use food-safe gloves that are approved to touch food directly!)
  • festive black & orange string/ribbon
  • Mighty Malts

Instructions:

  • Fill each finger with a single line of Mighty Malts. These help create the knuckle effect of the hand.
  • Pour in the remaining Mighty Malts to fill out the rest of the hand, leaving enough space at the palm to tie a knot.
  • Get creative with your ribbons/strings to tie the glove closed.
  • Decorate as you see fit! Some people add spider decorations. We put on a little string ring!
  • Enjoy and don’t get too spooked!

#TBT – Pru Boo 2013!

At NECCO, we love every opportunity we get to attend local events and have fun connecting with our community. On this #ThrowbackThursday, we think back to one of our favorite events that we have appeared recently: the Prudential Center‘s annual “PRU BOO” in Boston! It was a wonderful day where local children are able to come to the huge shopping center in the downtown area of Boston and go trick-or-treating from store to store and have some serious Halloween fun! All benefits from sales of the trick-or-treat bags went directly to benefit local charities that help families and children in need.

The children participating in this amazing event received delicious NECCO sweets in every store! From old favorites like Mary Jane Peanut Butter Kisses to new exciting treats like our Bat Wings and Mummy Hearts, it was no doubt that every sweet tooth was smiling this past October!

In addition to providing candy, NECCO also had the chance to have a Halloween craft table! At this table, we colored cool NECCO designs with all the little princesses and goblins and also made some fun mini pumpkin & ghost crafts with our NECCO Jr. Wafers, where everyone’s imagination went spookily wild! =)

Take a look at some of the fun photos from the 2013 PRU BOO! We can’t wait until this October to have some Halloween fun again!
